About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Freight Executive to join our freight forwarding operations team. This role is ideal for a logistics professional with experience in coordinating import and export shipments, managing freight documentation, and ensuring the smooth movement of cargo across international supply chains. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day shipment operations, liaising with customers, carriers, agents, and overseas partners, and ensuring timely and accurate execution of freight services. You will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, resolving shipment-related issues, and delivering excellent customer support throughout the shipment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Functions
- Coordinate end-to-end air freight and sea freight import and export shipments.
- Arrange bookings with airlines, shipping lines, transport providers, and overseas agents.
- Monitor shipment progress and ensure timely execution of cargo movements.
- Liaise with customers, carriers, warehouses, customs brokers, and overseas partners to ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare, verify, and process shipping documentation such as Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, permits, invoices, packing lists, and other freight-related documents.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements.
- Track shipments proactively and provide timely updates on shipment status.
- Resolve operational issues, shipment delays, and service disruptions promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure accurate and efficient shipment processing.
- Maintain proper records and documentation of all shipment activities.
Customer Service Functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment enquiries and operational matters.
- Respond promptly to customer requests and provide professional support throughout the shipment process.
- Handle customer feedback, complaints, and service issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through excellent service delivery.
- Support customer retention by ensuring a high level of responsiveness and operational excellence.
- Be prepared to support after-hours operational requirements when necessary.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, logistics, shipment coordination, freight operations, or customer service within the logistics industry.
- Good knowledge of air freight, sea freight, import/export procedures, customs requirements, and shipping documentation.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding systems and operational processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
